Playing some oldies for mom where we can all sing along, getting asked which album this is by your brother or sister which affirms yourself as an Obscure Ball Knower, occasionally torturing them with a 100 gecs / the jesus lizard track. One of my favorite aspects going back home.

they are my mom's favorite band and i realized this morning that she was my age when this album came out : ' ) it is nice to put this album on shuffle and dance around your kitchen while you get ready in the morning

ANYONE ELSE GROW UP IN THE BIBLE-BELT?

My brother got this album for Christmas when we were like 8 and 6, but we both listened to this religiously (lol). I still have good memories driving around listening to this one. And I gotta say, for a mainstream Christain record, it’s not that bad, but man it’s so cheesy 💀 “Funky Jesus Music” is so goofy, and “Break Open The Sky” is like trying to do reggae for some reason? Idk why he did that but props to him for not just doing the same 3-chord-pop-christain-radio style as everyone else. I also love that he featured his son on the record, I remember thinking that was the coolest song ever at the time. And there are some songs I still enjoy, namely the title track “Tonight” and “Hey Devil”. It’s not one of the best albums ever but I have great memories playing this in the car with my family. Great times.
