my partner is overseas so i’m embracing spending my birthday alone today and indulging in little luxuries i.e. morning walk to grab my fave iced latte, making a fancy breakfast, getting dressed nice just for me, maybe taking myself out to dinner later. happy birthday to me!

eat smoked salmon pasta and a chocolate zucchini cake in the shape of the age i’m turning, hang out with people i love, watch a movie, go to sleep. i never really had parties when i was a kid, just hanging out with my parents, and now i’m so grateful that i didn’t because the change from parties as a child to no parties as an adult would have been much more difficult and sad.

You know in Bridget Jones’s Diary how she had her pals over for her birthday? She made an iconically bad meal of marmalade, blue soup, and caperberry gravy, and they all enjoyed it because they loved her. There’s something so wonderful about setting out to have people over for your big day, cooking a nice meal, including a homemade cake. I love dining out as much as you would think! I also love cooking and baking, being able to pick the music, having everyone in cozy clothes, and sending everyone home with slices of cake.
10/10 i highly recommend doing your birthday DIY at home.
