i spent my summer in butte, montana, commonly referred to as the armpit of montana, but i beg to differ. the culture there is one of humility and community. everyone is who they are and they like that you are who you are. the bars are plenty full and the mountains shine down on the city like welcoming arms going in for a hug. yes there is a toxic pit, yes it’s pretty small. the people are gritty and know how to get through tough times, and would love to share a little slice of life with you. cheers to butte.
I specifically made plans this year to be alone on my actual birthday. And it’s been so nice. The best in years, no tears! I got up early to walk around a wildflower garden, tried a new coffee shop. Read a lot. Thrifted. Sushi for dinner and a peach crepe for dessert. The only thing missing was that I never went and celebrated with my favorite paintings at the museum but I’ll have a belated party with them later. Happy birthday to me.
