Mostly been doing this over the speakers at work. Putting a couple full albums is a great way to put yourself on a musical journey and appreciate the tracks in the order the artist so carefully put together for you! My go to has been Tapestry by Carole King!
Just sit down and listen to an album from start to finish, the way it was meant to be heard. I love a good playlist as much as the next guy, but the joy of listening to a full album as intended by the artist/band is amazing.
If you have a computer job, nothing passes the time like putting on an album. Throw something on, no skips, no complaining, just listening until its done and 45min-1hr has passed. I also like to set challenges for myself to not repeat stuff I am listening to. Last couple of months, Rate Your Music has been pretty valuable for finding stuff to listen to, like the highest rated Brazilian Pop albums and checking them out.
I have been logging a list of stuff I have been checking out here.
i keep it pinned in my notes app! Good conversation starter for fellow word enthusiasts! One of the first times I hung out with one of my now close friends we realized we both had a list like this and it was a blast to compare and contrast.
To quote him,
Words are so good!!
Literally changed my whole perspective. Suddenly my world is full of possible and wonder and whimsy. I may only write in my journal right now... but I'm a writer goddamnit!
Headphones OFF. Listening to the birds and the leaves and neighbors on walks on phone calls. Journalling and jamming and eating cherries!!! For all the complicated emotions a childhood home evokes I will always relish in the privilege of a porch.
