I never believed the meal prep hype. I used to prefer cooking a larger dinner and taking leftovers for lunch instead. No leftovers? I'll hop to the nearby supermarket and spend €5 on a "healthy" freezer meal. However, since the new year started I've been bulk prepping at least 10 days' worth of burritos every other Sunday and it's made my work days much easier to plan for, even if my Sundays are slightly busier. I found a recipe that's healthy, tasty, and pretty low-effort in the meal prepping process. I'll probably play around with flavours in the future, but I like the strategy of just tossing chopped vegetables in the oven for 40 minutes and cooking a black bean filling on the stove for 10. It's all about finding the right burrito "blueprint" that lets you play around with ingredients and flavours when you, inevitably, get bored of eating the same lunch every day. But yes, I'm now part of the bulk-prepping burrito brigade.

Relevant video linked. Do some prep (chop veggies, cook meat, make pasta/rice/carbs) in one afternoon but actually assemble the meals throughout the week. Also get a bunch of low-sugar sauces at the store. Mix and match based on what you feel like that night. Or, assuming you can afford it/have the option, just don't cook. Either do frozen, takeout, or get someone in your life to make it for you. Cutting out sugar is hard enough, why make the process any harder than it has to be?

i’m pescatarian (bc tuna is cheap and i don’t want to be an inconvenience when im out with friends or fam) but i eat mostly vegetarian at home. here’s some things that helped me be organized and mostly plant based on a budget: 1. always buy a random protein or two everytime you shop. black beans, tofu, chickpeas (makes a mean imitation tuna salad) etc… same goes for a base such as lentils, rice etc. even if you don’t have a recipe in mind you’ll be thankful for it later. canned tomato is also great to have on hand. 2. invest in some nutritional yeast! 3. i take a week or so to sporadically write a paper list out with at least three or four meals in mind along with a loose budget (that’s what works best for me as i get paid biweekly) 4. if your local grocery has an app, use it! i have very bad anxiety so i love knowing exactly what aisle something is in. sometimes i compare between different store apps to see who will keep me close to my budget. i enter my paper list into the app so i’m sure that i have everything. and read those circulars/check for coupons. 5. get yourself a couple ā€œcheat mealsā€ something boxed, frozen, microwavable etc for your lazy days. also get a fun snack or two <3 groceries are def not easy so i feel your struggle! hope these tips help a bit :)

I'm writing an essay and I've come up with three antidotes to overconsumption. 1. Consume critically. I don't care how many books you read last year - how does your favourite author use literary devices to tell their story? How does your favourite film director create a mood? Figure this out. 2. Create anything. And I really mean anything. Bake a cake, write an essay, knit a scarf. This is probably the best antidote to overconsumption because it preoccupies you, but it also helps develop some respect for what it takes to do the things that you consume. 3. Connect with people. It doesn't need to be that deep. DM your favourite content creator that you like their stuff. Comment on people's PI.FYI recs. If you enjoy consuming another person's content, letting them know is just a nice thing to do (and helps avoid parasocial relationships).

Last Monday I took a day off work (paid!) to go to the cinema with my friend and watch three films all in one go - A Complete Unknown, Babygirl and Nosferatu. We went out for coffees and dinner between films, but it was fun to make an outing of it while catching up on the newest films. Try and space out the screenings strategically so you don’t end up spending 12 hours out and about like we did.

They feel like a sweet treat. I also hate swallowing pills, so it's this or nothing.
