i find it difficult to focus sometimes due to the constant screaming voice in my head. i've found that brown noise is the only thing that drowns the voices out. i truly feel "no thought, head empty" when i listen to it through my noise canceling headphones. you can find 8-hour or 10-hour long brown noise videos on youtube.
iPhone (and now Mac) let's you turn on what it calls "Background Sounds" and has a selection of nature sounds, white/brown noise. The Background Sound volume can be adjusted independently of other sound sources too. So when I'm in a very loud environment or need to really block out the world, I turn on ANC, play some music, and slap on the sound of rain at 50%. I become sonically bulletproof.
watching their mouths and being in your own world. like i dont know how loud or how much shit they’re talking. i can just see them and know they’re talking w out hearing a word. noise cancellation is peace when the people around you won’t let you be peaceful
perhaps i am a little bit biased, but joining my university's radio station was the best decision i have ever made. i have made so many friends and discovered music i wouldn't have found on my own. my radio station has a collection of over 35,000 CDs that we play from and there's so much cool stuff in there. call into your local radio station too! request a song or just tell the DJ you like what they're playing.
i swam competitively in high school and i've recently taken it up again. it's a great form of cardio and is pretty low impact. unless you're fancy and have waterproof headphones, swimming is a good time to ponder and think about important things. it's kind of mindless and doesn't require a lot of thought once you're into it.
you don't see a lot of sidewalk etiquette these days. i feel like there are unspoken rules of walking on the sidewalk. some of these rules include:
-if you're walking in a group and taking up the entire sidewalk , move over when someone walks past you
-walk on the right side!!
-look up from your phone
-they are called sideWALKs for a reason. no bikes or scooters on the sidewalk. feel free to add more and bring back sidewalk etiquette!!
