Been going to water exercise classes and loving them. I am always the youngest person there by several decades and the music rocks. You get SUCH a good work out in, I swear it’s like reformer pilates but way cheaper. It doesn’t hurt your joints. You get stretched and pulled. Afterwards you soak in the hot tub with the old gals and gab

Back in the day (aka like 4 years ago), I used to wake up early on Sunday mornings to lifeguard the Aqua Tai chi class at the Indianapolis JCC for a ripe $12/hr. I hope i can’t get in trouble for this now but i must admit that I occasionally fell asleep while i ought to have been diligently at my post. It was sooo warm in there, and the instructor would put on this nice flute meditation music, so there was really no way I was gonna make it out of that pool as a star employee. Anyways, I have to take a PE class now to graduate college, and I have had the delight of taking Tai chi this semester (inspired, of course, by that very JCC Aqua Tai chi class). It’s a physical and mental meditation, but also a fr workout. Some things I think it helps with: balance, flexibility, bodily awareness, reflexes, mindfulness. Also, low-impact and modifiable to suit different levels of mobility, meaning it lends (or rather, suggests) itself well to long term practice 😌

I’ve been doing it for years and the hype is true. Stronger core, better posture, increased flexibility, a more balanced body composition, deep sense of mindfulness The only downside is how ridiculously $$expensive$$ it is, but most studios offer new clients specials and/or class packs at a discount.

I recently fucked my back up. It was sudden, unexpected, painful, and now I’m stuck with it. Mending it on an infinity loop of physical therapy, cortisone shots, heating pads, and now: Reformer Pilates. It’s reshaping my body and is one of the few exercises I can do at length without cursing my back out for giving up on me at 30. I can’t do mat, personal thing really, but highly recommend everybody get on a reformer at least once. It’s a strange sensation at first, working out laying down, but once you get into the rhythm of the movements and ride the breathwork wave, reformer pilates is powerfully healing (and strengthening). Also it’s kind of a lazy girl's hard workout.

I’ll use my hand to slosh water where I want it or froth up the soap suds, or my nails to scrape at something stuck-on. It always feels like a hack, something I’d forgotten I could do. it reminds me of what perfect tools my hands are.

If you’re vibing whatsoever at all with your server put your life in their hands. They know what’s best on the menu, the real classics, the deep cuts. And as a server I have so much more fun doing this, I’ll always put my friggin heart in it. I Love Being told what to do and I love a meal!

sleep will forever be a mystery to me. I can do everything the same but never is my energy level predictable. So that one day a week I have that BOOM level vitality, I cherish. The rest of the time I try to be nice to myself and await the special day a’comin
