Each episode covers a specific topic of study, and you hear from people who are absolutely IN LOVE with their specific field. There’s an episode on the study of squirrels, and it made me appreciate them so much more. Episodes are on Spotify and probably elsewhere.

Alie Ward interviews ”ologists” (or scientists/specialists) of every topic under the sun. Each guest on the show is so passionate about what they do and it’s a really fun way to learn a lot about super niche topics!!

I spend a lot of time driving and listening to podcasts. This is my favorite podcast. Alie is an incredibly charismatic host and gifted science communicator. Each episode is the coolest, weirdest, funniest and often most moving science lesson you could dream of. Good episodes to start with are Erethizonology aka Porcupines and Foraging Ecology aka Eating Wild Plants.

A simple educational podcast where the host (Alie) asks a series of professionals on each episode about their practices/work/fields (hence -ologies).

I first shaved my head in 2017 because I wanted to do something bold with my body, something I had considered for 2 whole weeks before just doing it. Now, I haven’t cut my hair since November 2024 and my hair is in the pixie stage. When people, usually women, ask me about cutting my hair, I always tell them to do it at least once because it’s so liberating to reclaim your body in a very obvious but temporary way. It’s also nice to not worry about extensive care and maintenance. I’m not sure if I’m going to like having long hair again, but I’m going to give it another try.
