i haven’t been on a rollercoaster in a very long time but growing up this was my absolute favorite. there’s not any good pics of it bc it’s an indoor coaster and very dark! it’s one of the mouse coasters with a lot of sharp turns and multiple drops. i also LOVED the log flume there which doesn’t make sense to me because in hindsight it definitely looked not very structurally sound and i have a hard time with tall roller coasters (fear of falling). but something about the water made me less worried?
an amusement park in central pa i have such fond memories here it’s so lovely, you don’t have to pay to enter just to ride the rides very nostalgic old timey quaint energy that is also a bit liminal,, at least to me design features include covered bridges, a water mill ice cream shoppe, and a north pole xmas themed store that has a year-round pole of ice outside
one of my fav rides is the haunted mansion. thinking abt it rn i can literally smell it, it’s musty perfection i love the carousel bc it is soooo beautiful w classic music from an organ! and it has a ring toss, if you pull the brass ring you get another ride for free
oh yes and i forgot it also has a campground which im obsessed with
i worked here for a few years and often got emotional just entering it (dramatic i know!!), it is just such a marvel, truly emblematic of the city/iconic, visiting the top was always such an adventure, also my fav part was that there are these murals throughout the lobby (mainly the ceiling but also the reception desk wall and in the elevators) that feature gears in celestial formations it is extremely steampunk!!!!
being traditionally cool is really quite boring and iterative, and it’s actually very cool and sexy to geek out about something you like or share bits of knowledge on a topic you’re passionate about
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WORKER’S DAY!!!! i love having a union, i love being a union steward and getting to support my unit. when my union won its contract, i got a pay bump, better benefits, and increased protection as a worker. 🥳
unions help address racial and gender pay gaps, issues workplaces impose on families and those having kids, addressing unsafe conditions, plus things like better health insurance, wages and overtime, weingarten rights to representation, and more!!!
if you don’t have a union but are thinking about forming one, check out AFL-CIO’s page (linked) or Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee. there’s always more power in a union!! ✊🥖🌹
they have FREE SHIPPING through Friday (7/8-7/11)
if you are thinking about buying a book online this week, please buy a book there instead of evil amazon dot com. bookshop benefits local indie bookstores! you also can pick which specific bookstore to support and they have many lgbt-, women-, and bipoc-owned shops listed :)
also they now have ebooks and many are on sale, such as Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower + Talents, Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments, or Talia Lavin’s Wild Faith for under $3 (!) each
