I don’t like buying new clothes, but when I have to, buying slightly damaged socks that wouldn’t otherwise make it to market feels less bad. LA Apparel sells their screw ups here - marketed as one-of-a-kind - I saw one where the shirt pocket was down at the torso, one where it’s splattered with bleach, some just have holes in them or the neck is too tight. To me, that’s awesome. I don’t care if it’s busted.

I’m going to assume ‘normal’ means things regular humans wear that don’t cost $$$$$$. I peeped some of the other recs and they had a lot of great options. Some broad thoughts:
• Thrifting is incredible...if you know what you’re looking for. It’s worth spending some time doing research / time in the stores feeling all the things yourself.
• GAP’s new creative department is incredible and they’re honestly the best all-around normal mall brand. Fits are great. Materials are thoughtful and rational (their linen stuff has been shockingly good).
• I am a loyal cultist to J Crew (and her younger, edgier, hotter sister in Madewell). The men’s department is currently way ahead of the women’s — SHOP THE MENS DEPARTMENT! This is peak era of women-wearing-menswear so abuse it.
• Everlane is good, their fits are hit or miss though. I’d say if you can go to a physical store try stuff on there.

wanted to gatekeep this but it’s too good, if you see ebay listings for this just know you’ll be fighting with me. I have been thrifting forever and this 90s brand All That Jazz has constant bangers and fits perfectly every time, I think they’re technically a juniors brand so I especially recommend them if you’re on the shorter side. They do a lot of ditzy print lightweight midi/maxi dresses in an array of beautiful jewel tones.
Always on the lookout for this brand and found this dress at my favorite vintage shop earlier this week. I popped in after a job interview and couldn’t resist. I set it aside to have only if I get the job soooo fingers crossed!

I’ve been talking to my therapist a lot and finding a lot of healing in reminding myself that I’m growing into someone that little me would’ve thought was really cool—especially when it feels hard to like myself
Listening to the same music, loving the same movies, loving to read, changing up my look, loving clothes, loving animals. A lot of these things made me feel weird or nerdy at the time now feel so core to myself. I’m just baby me in a bigger body, we all are ⭐️
