I think being a barista (at a nice shop, not like Starbucks shit) is probably the best job to ever exist Maybe it’s just where I work, but it is such a joy to come to work each day. Free coffee, good conversations with customers, wonderful cool coworkers, making drinks and listening to music all day. I’m legit sitting here sipping a latte and doing a crossword puzzle as Elizabeth Cotten plays in the background. What could be better? I’m applying to grad school and moving to a new city at the end of the summer, so I’m savoring and romanticizing this job while I can♥️ Also this was my view while opening today, like wtf man.

I also dream of having my own café. Small enough not to seat too many people, but cosy enough to be the place to be. Playing music, reading or even writing in my spare time, talking to the people who come in. But I wouldn't want to be fucking pretentious, as much as it might seem so.

absolutely thankfully where I work now we have lil chairs behind the bar but I’ve worked places with no sitting allowed and it was brutal

I love an opening shift 🥲 Putting on your favorite music, lighting some little candles, setting the vibe for everyone’s day whether they are studying or working or going on cute dates? Come onnnn. Or the fact that I can make a nice hot tea latte and walk it over to the houseless fella on the corner? I love giving out free stuff ugh. Might not make the most money but working at a cute lil shop is so fulfilling in a lot of ways!
