— my dad, sagely, instead of telling me something to do every time I would ask him this very same question as a child

This has strengthened our relationship so much and his lore is always insane. Dads always be doing the most random shit, but no one ever asks them about it. Since i've been asking my dad more about his day to day he gets so excited to tell me about all of the random things he's trying and learning. It's precious.

the other day i asked him about how he's living such a chill life and takes things slow even when he has a bunch of things to do and he is just like me. i get it from him in his words the pressure only comes when the time draws close for something to be completed and done and then once im done with that i relax and then the cycle continues so thanks to my dad from whom i got my procrastination skills from (like actually as we speak im procrastinating the studying i have to do)

My dad used to say “b-but I’m—I’m bashful” in a silly self-mocking voice instead of saying he had social anxiety (which basically didn’t exist as a concept when he was growing up) and it makes me laugh every time I remember. he’s just like me fr

It lends a reflective and wistful tone to written communications imo…

My dad teases me about how when I was a little kid, my favorite thing to do when I was on the landline phone with somebody—be it a relative or one of my best friends—was to breathlessly describe the things that were in my bedroom so that they could have a mental picture of everything I loved and chose to surround myself with, and where I sat at that moment in time. Perfectly Imperfect reminds me of that so thanks for always listening and for sharing with me too 💌
