a first time watch at the recommendation of Criterion. i had never heard of it before, and that's a rotten shame. follows the classic 90s rom-com structure but loudly female and jewish. funny, sweet, and pickled :)
for fans of Meryl, De Niro and the city of New York! this movie is so damn charming and has perhaps my favorite cinema meet cute of all time. Meryl has a mom mullet and looks gorgeous. A very sweet and real movie that flew under my radar until recently.
I know, I know. I’m late to the party. It took me at least five attempts to watch this movie and I finally get it. This might be one of the most romantic things I have ever seen, I fear. So much tension, so many emotions and there isn‘t even a single kiss in this movie. Sorry to my younger self but you were wrong, this is absolutely beautiful and not overrated
