A movie about finding unexpected friends when you really need them. Peter Dinklage, Bobby Cannavale, and Patricia Clarkson are each perfect. Itโ€™s a movie I come back to whenever Iโ€™m feeling lonely.

I love Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson is really a comedy genius so when I heard about this movie I was excited. I saw it yesterday with maybe 15 people, scattered in a small theater late in the afternoon in a multiplex packed with people there to see Lilo and Stitch and Karate Kid. It was such a good movie, fans of "I Think You Should Leave" will enjoy the uncomfortable awkwardness of it. It was dark at times, but it had some really funny parts, some of the story was surrealist at times which I enjoyed, there were some really visually interesting shots and the music/soundtrack was good. When it was over, me and my girlfriend were discussing what we just watched and it made me think about trying to make friends as an older person and how hard it is to try and seem cool or interesting to someone else that you are just getting to know. We talked about the mistakes of our youth and how we are all awkward and lack self awareness at times. Sometimes we are just performing, putting an exaggerated version our "best self" on display in hopes of companionship, acceptance, love, to feel like being part of a tribe or family, when we should be more humble and just let it come out organically. We should show our true self in the beginning, not feeling embarrassed or feel shame about our passions, they are what make us who we are. And if people don't like it, or judge you, they are not for you, and that is ok. Everyone is not for everybody. Be true to yourself and you will find your people, even if it takes longer than you want it to. Anyway, the movie was good, like what I said above, it might not be for everyone, but give it a chance and you might like it. Bye

I know Iโ€™m supposed to put some Criterion pick here, or some sort of tour de force film, but have you seen Charles Grodin in Clifford?! Holy hell, few things cheer me up like Martin Short, pretending to โ€œlook at you like a normal person.โ€ Itโ€™s a dumb movie that is better the more you watch it.
