I never realized how much I was lacking animal companionship until my best friend made me an uncle and my lover introduced me to her dog. These beautiful creatures miss me and I miss them when we arenโt together. They snuggle into the nooks of my body and fall asleep, affirming the safe space I try to hold with myself. They want to play and lick and jump and that gives me so much hope! While I may be an expectant cat mother, i was a dog person first.
