this movie really defined an entire formative era of my life. I was an awkward frizzy-haired tween with glasses when this came out and I saw so much of myself in Mia. my best friend and I had the soundtrack basically memorized (Aaron Carter’s cover of Itty Bitty Little Pretty One lives rent free in my head, as does Miracles Happen by Myra). the love interest Michael (aka Robert Schartzman of Rooney fame) imprinted on my eros and continues to influence my type in masc women to this day. the movie also led me to the (superior if I’m being honest) book series, which played a HUGE role in shaping my taste and sense of humor and interest in pop culture references

amen amen amen!!!!!!! I rented the vhs from the video store so often that I got embarrassed and just bought it. then I bought the dvd. all the song snippets are so good and the weird goofy little moments of characters in the background, classic Rob Marshall! I fell in loooooove 😍with Robert Schwartzman and thus Rooney and that changed my musical life forever. so many things... the m&m pizza guy, Lana got coned, I say "well, this is as good as it's gonna get" to myself in the mirror like every other day, not to mention her majesty Julie Andrews eating a corn dog. omg. this movie is golden.

• Pocoyo (taught me about drawing, space and perspective). • Scooby Doo. I feel like this show in particular is really old school in terms of it having no lore behind it. It’s the same pattern for every episode and I think it’s kind of like a Time Machine of what used to be for children’s shows. • American Dragon: Jake Long. Used to watch a lot before going to school. The plot was so enthralling. • The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. Loved the dark humor incorporated into it. • Phineas & Ferb. Catchy songs, a platypus and humans with weird heads. •The Powerpuff Girls. Need I say more? Movies: • Anastasia (1997). Kickstarted my obsession with the Romanovs. Lead me to google wayyyy to young what had happened to Anastasia in real life. That was bleak. • Old Barbie movies. My favorites were The Princess and the Pauper, Rapunzel, Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus. Used to watch these all the time. They really incorporated the whimsy and made me want to live like a peasant in the medieval era under a monarchy. • Ella Enchanted (2004). • The Princess Diaries 1 & 2. • Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan and JLC (2003). • Hocus Pocus (1993).

okay im gonna go from the earliest movie i rewatched a lot and i think fairly had the most impact on me. im also fully aware that the childhood list is a bit wild bc my parents didnt regulate the kinds of movies i watched they pre much would just cover my eyes with their hands or a pillow whenever there are explicit scenes like kissing and sex even though i can fully hear the sounds but they mostly didnt care about gore and violence lmao. i did gravitate more towards movies that are appropriate for my age during pre-adolescence though... i think. early childhood: - dumbo - kill bill vol 1 & 2 - the princess diaries - romeo and juliet during elementary: - hannnah montana the movie - aquamarine - wild child - school of rock

I went to the Korean spa for the first time with my bestie last night and it was a profoundly nourishing experience on every level. we were having deep heart to hearts while schvitzing it out in the sauna and it felt like my soul was being cleansed. there are these tubs of different temperatures and this basin full of mugwort water with empty bowls so you can pour it over yourself, and all these magical heated rooms with different scents and properties. I also saw people carrying giant bottles of spa water with chopped mango and mint and they were like $20 each but they looked sooo good. next time I also want to go to the Korean restaurant inside and the tea room.

Libby is and forever will be THAT GIRL and I recently discovered you can subscribe to basically any magazine via the newsstand feature. I am really enjoying flipping through NYmag and trashy celeb mags like Us Weekly on my phone—it feels like all the guilty pleasure of scrolling though social media but infinitely more fun and less draining. I also like reading food mags and the New Yorker!
