My ass got hit with a bad case of laryngitis (or tonsillitis???) and rn I'm feeling miserable. BUT one thing that's def been helping with the dry throat has been the Ricola Caramel throat balm drops (AKA: "Ricola Caramel with Liquid Center Throat Balm Drops"). It's great bc it's non-drying and also it tastes delicious bc it has honey in the center. NOTE: If you've got a dry cough you DON'T want to use cough drops with menthol bc it dries you out even more; these cough drops have pectin as their active ingredient, which acts as an oral demulcent to create a film over the mucus membrane in your throat to help w/any irritation. *Obviously it's not gonna miraculously heal you but it's good for momentary relief

ok so gargling warm salt water has done wonders for my sore throats in the past! i just microwave or heat up some water in the kettle and then take my salt shaker and shake a lil bit in the cup, then stir. make sure to "close off your throat" before gargling (sounds dumb, but the first time i gargled warm water i choked and it was kinda painful haha). this next thing is really nasty but i swear i have never had a cold that this method couldn't beat. and it works SO QUICKLY. swallowing chopped up, raw, garlic. by the spoonful. I KNOW ITS SO BAD IM SORRY but it works so well (i think bc the garlic is so nasty it just creates a hostile environment in your throat that the virus doesn't like). it helps a lot if you do this before a meal, since then the garlic taste will be gone from your mouth before too long. i usually just take a spoonful or too with water, or pinch my nose while taking it to spare myself the taste. feel better <3

My steps: 1. Shut my phone down, hide it in my room, and lock the door so it's a pain in the ass to get to. 2. Be bored, and sit in the boredom for like 7-10 minutes (MINIMUM)-- once you're bored see what your brain gravitates to beyond The Screen (is it doodling? is it playing guitar? is it writing?) 3. Find the little thing your brain latches on to, and start doing it! Even if it's something goofy like "Just Dance youtube videos" to dance to LOL this is you, deliberately following your brain's natural curiosity & interest And then rinse and repeat however you like <3 Once you get accustomed to the smaller, more gratifying feel good activities, social media starts to feel too overwhelming to even pick back up again-- you'll be reaching for it less and less (a final aside: I am of the major belief that creativity & imagination is critical to creating a better reality to live in, because it shows that you're capable of leaning into what "doesn't exist", and are courageous enough to imagine and build a reality that defies the status quo. but that's just me LOL)
