I donāt know who I would be without my solitude but I also think I would have fared better if I werenāt so alone all the time. itās not that I donāt have friends or family to rely on, itās just that I donāt know who to be other than to be alone.

maggie nelson says āloneliness is solitude with a problemā and wrote about how if one does oneās solitude right, the prize is an ability to love without losing yourself entirely. this has really helped me reframe how i see the past few years of feeling lonely and my discomfort with being single - these days iāve been sorta leaning into my āsolitudeā and just really working on coming back to myself and my identity, and trying to see myself as whole even while on my own + appreciating the platonic love i already have in my life

growing up I spent a majority of my time alone. I was pretty socially anxious and insecure but I also just had niche hobbies and interest that I enjoyed in solitude since it was hard to find others to share them with. as iāve gotten older iāve realized how quickly solitude can become isolation and I found (when deprived by the pandemic and other life changes around that time) that i had a deep need for community and friendship that I had neglected.
now iām a lot more comfortable in my own skin and confident socially, and while an empty day at home used to be very comforting to me I canāt stand them now. I need to get out of the house and at least be around others haha.

Outside the Internet most people havenāt seen or heard this movie so every time I say itās one of my favourite movie from the past year people would just blink at me blankly. But I if you can please go watch this movie, itās beautiful, itās serene, itās everything.
