a very reformative experience. mine are from selima optique! they have the cutest website and an abundance of pretty specs. i found them in a random opticians in the middle of a mall. i think they used to be sunglasses. tortoise shell and big frames. i’d make the cuntiest of librarians!

Putting script lenses into cheap sunglasses

Maybe this isn’t news to everyone like it was for me - there’s companies that will take any glasses frame you send to them and slap in some perscription lenses. While I haven’t sent a pair in just yet, it’s not from a lack of wanting it… I’m busy aggregating all the sunnies I own, and buying a few cheap pairs I’ve heard good things about (shoutout the x kds & the Oakley Eyejacket Tyler specials) to get my perfect pair.

Warby parker or eyebuydirect

Don’t spend money on frames with a designer’s name on them unless that’s important to you and you can afford it. I’ve had good experiences with Warby Parker both in-store and online. NY Times recommended EyeBuyDirect. But any local store should have opticians who will show you around and suggest frames to fit your face. They’re very good at it!

presumption of good will

I was going through the Ignatian approach to education today (adapted from the Spiritual Exercises for those keeping track at home) and this tenet is just so good. St. Ignatius says that a person, “ought to be more eager to put a good interpretation on a neighbor’s statement than to condemn it.Further, if one cannot interpret it favorably, one should ask how the other means it. If the meaning is wrong, one should correct the person with love; if this is not enough, one should search out every  appropriate means through which, by understanding the statement in a good way, it may be saved.” This is very Hanlon’s razor (never attribute to malice what you can attribute to stupidity/ignorance) and I just feel like having a curious posture like this is a major slay and makes us better people

Checking out ornate churches

Like look at this shit. Just kinda sick tbh. The Eastern church invented maximalism which is just very slay for them (even if you aren't into God or whatever I feel like you can enjoy old buildings with tons of art everywhere)
