He’s just like fighting. it’s epic. Idk who this is or why he’s fighting but he's frozen in space almost winning. Like it’s not over yet but the struggle is in his favor. this is better than victory, no one is dead, they are just fighting. Ig the snake could still win too. The tail wrapped around the mans leg. maybe there’s no one to root for. no one is inherently right or victorious. It’s kinda natural I think. The snake has as much reason to fight as the man. I would kill to be naked and to have a fair shot at a few things lately. No strategy or memory or talking just a fair shot. like staring some things in the face and not feeling anything more than human. not evil for my anger because it’s natural, and not like a victim because it’s fair.

This mantra gets me through the worst of it. Also justifies the pain and the fight. Gets me in grit mode.

“the only way out is through” vibes. you gotta face the most gut wrenching discomfort to experience feeling so mature and free and close to your fellow man. go start a fight to end one!

Again, I love mess. I only went to high school for a year before leaving to do independent study (I thought I was gonna be famous but ended up working at the mall so I lost the ability to write with a pencil for basically no reason) and the thing I always found myself missing was a good tussle. I remember this one foggy morning when two girls duked it out in front of the bathroom stall while I shat before first period choir class and I can’t help but smile. A public fight is a beautiful, erotic thing; it’s a flash in the pan of boundless energy and unfettered passion, providing a very primal catharisis that words just cannot. When these moments are captured on camera, I can live vicariously through my fourteen year old self who was once the gleeful Snapchat voyeur at the scene of the crime. Reddit and Twitter are rife with great fight pages if you ever need to indulge yourself with something feral and nasty.

like many of the other responses to this post, I think that having physical copies of media ensures that there is some enduring access. It’s archival. I would also add that having the physical copies enhances engagement with the media. This is of course a privilege bc physical media is usually more expensive than digital, but I do think that consuming Digital media is often more passive. Idk. I love my phone too (and Spotify and the internet archive and Gutenberg project). But after I started collecting CDs and physical books I became very interested in getting as much as possible out of them. listening to the same album in its entirety for weeks at a time. rereading a book (Seriously, I would rarely reread a book before). Also lending the copies to friends is the best thing in the world. Like being able to share and then discus- or even just the sharing. Whether or not you get it back it just becomes a gift. Which is nice. Anyways to blabber on this last point: I don’t think that you always have to personally own and keep forever all of the physical media you accrue. just going to a library does a lot of the same good (supporting local archiving + engaging with stuff my tangibly + media becoming communal). learning that many libraries still have VHS, CDs, and DVDs available to check out changed my life. ya.
