well, i'm just a sucker for synthwave, and very, very, much enjoy this new release from tom. <3 goes well with browsing are.na late at night when you should really go to bed.

A masterpiece all together - the album. My fave track: New Machines "This just makes me feel floating with oxygen in space" "this song gives me 2 emotions that don't even exist" "This make me happy and sad at same time" Randy Goffe, known professionally as HOME, is a Synthwave/Chillwave music producer from Punta Gorda, Florida, USA who now lives in Chicago.[1] HOME's music is influenced by 70's and 80's music, layered with a bit of Chiptune and Chillsynth. He is often regarded as the creator of chillsynth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVDgWUwowLY&list=PLKpH9TsJs6VLqp2I259RtVAi803qk8pCU&index=8

i know, i know.. you’re probably saying to yourself “vaporwave?! that’s certainly gotta be dead these days”, and yeah, i’d agree with you for the most part, but as a certified easy listening megafan and early adopter of the genre (i tried my hand at making a few very bad vaporwave tracks in 2013) i’m here to tell you the slowed-down, chopped-up, smooth eighties instrumentals are still hitting 12 years after the genre’s inception. i recently discovered the vaporwave musician vcr-classique who uploaded all of their albums onto spotify last year and i’m thoroughly enjoying my time with them. i recommend the albums vidéo boutique, collection dautomne, and virtual metropolis, however all of them have at least a few gems sprinkled within their hazy retro soundscapes. i especially find it to be the perfect soundtrack for browsing pi.fyi. considering this platform’s old-internet feel with a modern twist, vaporwave makes the perfect pairing. 🥂

Can't pick favourites so I'm letting myself choose a bunch :) Sue me Mogwai Fear Satan, Mogwai —A quarter of an hour of post-rock with a beautiful, beautiful build. It Never Entered My Mind, Miles Davis Quintet — Feels a bit cheaty because it's jazz and there definitely are lyrics inspiring the lead melody.. still wonderful for pensive late-night walks. Earth Moon Transit, Duster — if you haven't sat back and spent time with this album, what are you doing? Clear an evening and put it on repeat. Yes, technically it has lyrics. Personally I barely hear them. Prologue, Kamasi Washington — Such powerful energy on the closing track of last year's album. Blade Runner Blues, Vangelis — the song that made me fall in love with synthesisers.

okay, you don't have to be rude about it. but you can actually say to objects, "hey, object, you're another kind of object now." when reading before bed last night, i couldn't remember where my bookmark was. so i just threw out my arm into space, let my hand find... something. a drink coaster. and—yeah. i just threw it in there. in the book. and it worked! (at least, i think it did. i haven't tried reading again today.)

»in an effort to combat overpopulation, the postmortem social network 'anvil' is released.« okay obviously, i don't rec or look forward to a social network like that. it sounds fucking horrible. but, but, but—the music video is dark and disturbing and absolutely beautiful. and the track slaps, too. just drove a friend home, and after dropping her off, i queued this one up and slowly drove back through the night on almost-empty streets. it's so good. i've done it since i was a kid. have you ever tried it? nighttime is the best, here's how i do it: 1. i walk into a room with a heavy, cozy, persian carpet on the floor. (in my apartment, there's only one such room.) 2. i lie down (on the floor). 3. i listen to music. it's pretty easy, really. try it! i've attached a screen grab where you can see how it's done. that's hirayama from perfect days (great film). here are three tracks for nighty night-time listening in no particular order. • when u sleep • you have telescoping arms and fingers (but I still love yooou!) • et bånd
