this is like 50ish and then there are also like 10 books amongst my nighstand and desk, like a dozen or so at my office desk, and probably another 20-30 of mine back at my mom’s place…
i feel like getting a bookshelf is a goal for me this year instead of having them in whatever you would call this setup. (also don’t worry i am a clean person and the floor was very clean before i put them on it)
I have piles of them on the ground. Might be a problem and a budget line item getting out of control but I wouldn’t haven’t it any other way, makes your place feel comfortable. When they’re actually getting in my way then we’ll talk about downsizing. Doesn’t feel quite right when you walk in someone‘s place and there are no books.
i was just going to say one or two books but really its all my books/notebooks, its also my cats perch and home to a picture i took of my gran and her cat(both have since passed away) plus ive always had this image in my head of my perfect bookshelf and then saw that exact bookshelf materialised in goodwill for $6.99 one day
its creaky and falls to the side if it doesn't have the weight of books holding it in place, been sanded to hell and was deffo some in-over-his-head suburban dads’ third woodworking project
ppl say that ‘what would u save from a fire’ thing and(besides my cat duh) im like uhh everything on my bookshelf and also the bookshelf..i think the adrenaline rush could make it possible
i also want to note that i think placement and content of ones bookshelf is the most telling to their character and holds a lot of weight for me when making judgements on our interactions, i am a snoop and i will spend no less then 10 minutes ruminating over ur books
[these are photos from a few months back and now its totally full up and i need another shelf for my overflow rip]
being traditionally cool is really quite boring and iterative, and it’s actually very cool and sexy to geek out about something you like or share bits of knowledge on a topic you’re passionate about
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WORKER’S DAY!!!! i love having a union, i love being a union steward and getting to support my unit. when my union won its contract, i got a pay bump, better benefits, and increased protection as a worker. 🥳
unions help address racial and gender pay gaps, issues workplaces impose on families and those having kids, addressing unsafe conditions, plus things like better health insurance, wages and overtime, weingarten rights to representation, and more!!!
if you don’t have a union but are thinking about forming one, check out AFL-CIO’s page (linked) or Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee. there’s always more power in a union!! ✊🥖🌹
they have FREE SHIPPING through Friday (7/8-7/11)
if you are thinking about buying a book online this week, please buy a book there instead of evil amazon dot com. bookshop benefits local indie bookstores! you also can pick which specific bookstore to support and they have many lgbt-, women-, and bipoc-owned shops listed :)
also they now have ebooks and many are on sale, such as Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower + Talents, Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments, or Talia Lavin’s Wild Faith for under $3 (!) each
