You might have one near you, and itโs one of the easiest ways to reduce your waste. If the change seems daunting, start with just one or two products like dishwasher detergent or hand soap. Only about 9% of plastic ever produced has been recycled, and although the corporations responsible for this mess have yet to be held responsible, forming sustainable habits still has a lasting impact!
Reuse that plastic shopping bag as a trash bag for litter, reuse that plastic bottle and use it as a momentary water bottle, use that paper bag as weed barrier in a garden, or even use it as temporary recycling bin or wrap presents with them and personalize everything!! Single use plastic is almost impossible to avoid especially if you spend most of your day out and about. If you do though, try only get what you need at a restaurant and maybe at a coffee shop don't get it to go. Where are you going in such a hurry? Sit for a while, read a book!
I like ReFill in highland park. You get a little jar and fill it with whatever your heart desires. My cabinets look so good. Just think about never buying a packaged almond againโฆ.
Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones โบ๏ธ
Liner Notes:
This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
