Share (solicited) knowledge, let others borrow your equipment, drop the competitive mindset, and talk about what inspires you! Everything I have had the privilege of doing in the creative realm is credited to the people that inspired me, trusted me as a collaborator, or pushed me to grow. Everyone’s coming into this life thing at a different angle, so wherever you are in your artistic journey, there’s a good chance you have something that could aid in someone else’s.

Today I was thinking: why am I so much better at supporting others than I am to myself?? We really need to support ourselves! "Show how you think, show you can see an idea through, and keep doing it until you can no longer be ignored." Some really good advice if you are an "aspiring" creative to which Jess Wheeler says bollocks! (*vigorous nodding*)  "The reason I dislike the term ‘aspiring creative’ is because there’s no such thing. Either you are or you aren’t. Creative people make stuff. That’s what makes us creative. We take a nothing and turn it into something. That’s our special skill. You don’t need permission to be creative. You don’t need a job, or a client, or a brief, or a degree, you just NEED TO CREATE." 💰💰💰

1. inspiration: travel, meet new people, read books, watch movies/series, take chances (=experience new things!)→ this will help you find new inspiration which in turn will make you want to create✈️❤️‍🩹🌅🚞💏 2. creation: with your new inspiration you can now create!🎞️🎧🖼️🌷it is important to keep on creating (even on days when you know nothing good will come out of it) → doing your craft often will make you more comfortable with your craft and build your confidence 3. experimentation: once you've done it enough times (creating) you'll have built enough confidence to experiment and try new techniques and styles → when said experimentation goes well your confidence will slowly grow🌷🐌💐🪷🌻🌹 4. collaboration: meet others and create together! collective creative work is so fulfilling and great for building confidence and skill 💂🏾🧑🏼‍💼👨🏿‍⚖️🧝🏿‍♀️👨🏼‍💼👩🏼‍🎤 this is my take on building creative confidence:) i hope this helps🌹

i have nothing against bearing your soul to the world from time to time but when you’re collaborating on something it’s much easier to emotionally distance yourself from the thing you’ve made as opposed to feeling like you’ve given the world a piece of yourself that you have to trust that it won’t smash into a million pieces (or worse, completely ignore) you get to be all like “i think *we* could improve this“ instead of “i completely fucked this up.“ counter-intuitively, it’s great for the ego, and you get to learn a lot from the other person(s) involved

Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ☺️ Liner Notes: This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
