if you are an apple/mac user and are just looking for basic editing tools imovie gets the job done. it's free, easy to learn and no watermark. i've personally always found apple editing software more user friendly than adobe but i think i'm one of the few that feels that way

@HONEYMOONHEARTED i'm sorry 💔 if you are looking to edit short-form / social media videos, i'd try capcut. for long-form / professional work give davinci a try! both have a ton of youtube tutorials to get you started :-)

davinci is also free and a little more professional than imovie. also much easier to colour grade

@CLEANTEETH davinci definitely has a more diverse and advanced toolbox but the interface drives me insane.... not sure exactly what kind of editing op is looking to do but for any post-production work davinci is the way to go. for simple edits imovie is way more streamlined imo

@CARLEY i agree. I use ProTools and for me that's the most streamline but it's expenny. Imovie is a good place to start and dabble. AGree agree agree!

@CLEANTEETH i got the apple editing suite years ago w student pricing and have just stuck with final cut since! most of the editing i do is just for fun so its very rare i need any other software but i am planning a project that would require more audio work and i'm thinking abt trying out protools for that 🤔 fcp has added more audio tools but i refuse to update my macos so i cant use them lol

soo user friendly! there's a mobile version on the app store and ofc mac and pc etc. good for short and long form stuff! i had premiere pro for free as a student but then i graduated so i found that capcut worked for me the best and it's also just way easier to use than premiere pro and has so many features actually

FINAL CUT PRO: Let me be clear. Premier has always been garbage—today as a buggy mess and back when FCP originally launched and ate its lunch. It's only advantage is the Adobe ecosystem (which is a big advantage). FCP is fast, gets out of your way, hardly crashes, and, if it does, you never lose your work. I've been using it over a decade. I paid $300 for it, ONCE, and have received updates ever since. DAVINCI RESOLVE: The multi-platform king. Personally, I don't like the NLE built into DaVinci, but I haven't invested much time in getting familiar with it either. DaVinci is the THE standard in color grading and it has an entire Adobe ecosystem replacement in one app (color, sound, sfx, cutting, finishing). It is FREE to use and only paywalls 4K exports and its more advanced plugins. If you want to learn video post-production, start here. When you're ready to level up: $295

I once worked in a professional marketing department and we used capcut quite a bit, esp for putting together quick videos. there’s a web and app version and both are pretty good! I would consider it kind of like the canva of video editing in that it’s very user friendly and has a surprising amount of free features. canva also allows you to put together videos but I’d only use it for very basic stuff, the more involved the more finnecky it tends to be. but for simple putting clips together, maybe adding a graphic here and there, it works pretty well too.

when i was like 9 and finally got this on dvd it was the only movie i would watch for a few months. still an extremely underappreciated film imo!! a visually stunning tale of overcoming loss and fighting expectations. has its cheesy moments, but the cast sells every line. to this day, the final race is the most euphoric movie scene i've ever seen.
