Maybe it's stupid but what has helped me the most is making everything a game. For me pretending I'm a Sim works best since this is the game I know best, you can use anything else. I've created myself in The Sims, I'm designing the 'life golas', 'work tasks', 'needs bar' (otherwise I forget to eat or drink water), 'progress bars for certain skills' etc. Making all this is peak procrastination but once I have my progression bar ready to be colored when a taks is completed it's much easier. I just have to gaslight myself into thinking it's not a chore, it's a quest.

THIS. I do not have ADHD, but I do have depression and getting the advice to gamify my approach to tasks really helps when Iโ€™m just in a rough spot. I started using this app called Finch about two years ago and it worked so well bc it has like this little bird character that gets gems/xp for every task you do. You can give him clothes and pick where he goes itโ€™s pretty dope. You even ex for just creating a task, so it kinda tackles the shame bit too. Highly recommen!!

I relate to every word you put down. What helps me is realizing that I cannot be extrinsically motivated. A bad grade or loss of points means nothing to me and has never motivated me. Motivation has to come from within - and sometimes that means I have to gaslight myself into being motivated. If I have an essay I don't want to work on I will stare into space and repeat to myself: "I am compelled to work on my essay for 5 minutes" Within a few minutes of looking like an insane person I will cave and get to work. But it gets even better, because the hardest part is always getting the ball rolling. Once I get 5 minutes in adding another 5 minutes on top of that is much easier, and once I've worked for 10 minutes, whats another 10 minutes? before I know it I'll have been working for an hour and it will feel amazing. This isn't a surefire way to get productive, but if you have adhd it's great to make a list of strategies for yourself to use in the future.

not in the life hack money LED youtube dude way but just some gentle analogizing thinking about energy and health and food and etc bars like "oh no, my arts consumption bar is running low better run to film forum" you know what I mean it simplifies things makes tasks more straightforward feels kind of mindful

This one is mostly to myself. I really struggle with focus and getting things that feel hard done and on track. I have ADHD (diagnosed by a clinical doctor and not TikTok) and so I know that in order to do work, I have to trick myself. So what Iโ€™m doing right now is trying to create a space for myself in which I can get the task done. First thing I did was finish another, small task I had on my mind. Next Iโ€™m going to take care of my base level needs. Get food, get a fun snack and drink and then already sign into squarespace and Dropbox and create a situation where all I have to do is sit down. I have to remember to tell msyelf it doesnโ€™t all have to get done tonight. Iโ€™m just re-familiarizing myself with the project, doing an hour of work so that tomorrow, I can tackle it in a more meaningful and focused way. I hope it works lol?

Dear Diary, I went alone to a Shrek Rave. It was fine (although I was hoping for more and different vibe) so I'm uploading this to remember this night.
