Guest 004: Kiara Braum  Kiara Braum, a poet, writer, and artist from Johannesburg, explores memory, the mundane, and the magical through her work. Blending auto-fiction and poetry, she crafts raw, introspective narratives that blur the line between reality and imagination.  One day, she hopes to discover what exactly it all means.  Kiara selects Movies to: Match Your Existential Crisis, a list of films that unravel, reflect, and embrace the chaos of being.  Read her latest piece, Fight with your boyfriend and clean up the vomit, and subscribe to her Substack, The Mountain Allows, for more of her writing.

*i stole this rec* This film is beautiful, terrifying, and depicts (some of) my exact emotions about the rain in LA rn. I got the rec from the oh so wonderful Julia Pott and her substack Slow Motion Multitasking where she takes deep dives, shares her art, and ultimately tries to help others and her self feel (even if ever so slightly) creative again. This was the first substack I ever subscribed to and I have learned and been exposed to so many wonderful things because of it. I want to be her friend so bad.

My beloved friend and creative partner of many years and the best writer I know… her first post Trauma Queens is a look at emotional exhibitionism and oversharing online. I highly recommend reading it and following her to see what she comes out with next!!

Then read my inaugural Substack post on emotional exhibitionism, where I wrote about a troubling and very normalized trend I noticed during my bleak year as a TikTok user. 🛌 💌
