The recently-released limited series on Netflix, Adolescence has gained quite a bit of popularity. Is it worth the watch? I would say so. The performances and cinematography are amazing, as each episode is filmed in one take. However, the subject matter is dark, and there are some pretty intense scenes, so if that’s not up your alley I wouldn’t recommend.

When becoming a stan takes a new meaning. After loss & tragedy, people grieve in many different ways: but our protagonist chooses to deal in a much more violent way than most. In this series you get a flood of different emotions and most of all you get confused, but this series is something I do not regret binging. If you don’t mind some gory scenes & some disturbing ones too, this series is a must watch. Whilst it did come out in 2023, I don’t think it got enough praise. Dominique Fishback does an absolute masterclass in acting (& was snubbed at the Emmy’s). There is some really disturbing shit in this show, so if you get triggered easily I wouldn’t watch it. Nevertheless, go watch it and you’ll understand why I’d rave about this show.

It’s got everything... many “WTF” moments, twists and turns, it takes place in Omaha and it’s even got some ediscovery in it. Seriously drop everything and watch it. Now.

I read this book for my IB English class, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It explores human connection, the afterlife, morality, classism, family, spirituality, and more. Most of all, the absurdism and satirical elements tie everything together to form an emotional story that takes readers through the process of grief and self-acceptance alongside the narrator, Yang Fei. If you are looking for a book that broadens your perspective and empathy, be sure to give this one a try. -224 pages, so it is a good length -split into 7 parts: 7 ‘days’ -not a challenging read, but meaningful and packs a punch
