Spent a long weekend with no cell phone signal in the Appalachian mountains. It was incredible. Learned a lot about myself and my family from Appalachia. I can’t wait to grow up and move to West Virginia and grow vegetables in a garden outside my cool old house and wade in the river and not have a cell phone.

I have experienced the joy, a handful of times over my years, of living way the fuck out there. There is nothing like it. The furthest out, least connected option is by far the most impactful, but not something most people can (or should), do for a long time. The perfect balance is being accessible to a nearby town or city, but fully capable of nude gardening. Pictured, my yurt home on friends land from this past summer.

a weekend back in my hometown did this for me ! upon arrival i was like wow i am doing so well in comparison to how i was when i was living here as a teenager. and after three days i am listening to philadelphia shoegaze with a pit in my stomach and an oppressive sense that i may never leave this place………

Don’t get me wrong, I love travel and I’m game to befriend everyone, but i was clearly made for home and mountains and books and isolation, none of which I found in Florida. I’m looking forward to spending time with my family man. It’s a small life after all.

I am a 22 year old who graduated about a year ago and have been working full time for about 10 months. My suggestion is to find spaces where you can be with people your age and that have your interests. Working full time with people 30 years your elder can be so hard so really create a work life balance where once you are off of work, you are off of work. I have been taking art classes all around my city recently and it has been so fun and it takes my mind off of stupid work things!!! Very highly rec!!!!!!!
