Out of all the medium format cameras I’ve worked with and owned, the GOAT as far as I’m concerned is the Pentax 67. Much easier to carry around and use than the Mamiya RB/RZ’s with exceptional build quality and durability. Stalked eBay listings for 3 years waiting for prices to drop below $700, and those years of waiting paid off in full. Prices vary from $500 to $1000, the sweet spot seems to be the $675 to $750 range on eBay.

Beautiful camera, an absolute machine. It's a budget camera (at least in the 70s it was) so it doesn't have many special features, but that makes the basics really easy to learn since there isn't any fluff that acts as distraction. Btw Brooklyn Film Camera is a great online store for restored film cameras - I believe they offer national shipping.

When I was in art school I studied photo and found it really frustrating that the most successful photographers had all chosen a camera for themselves that they worked with almost all the time: for Ryan McGinley & Terry Richardson it was the Yashika T4, for Juergen Teller it was the Contax G2, Wolfgang Tillmans used a Leica with a 35mm lens. Something about this felt disingenuous and try as I might I could never find my version of that thing. It hasn’t been since I abandoned and rediscovered photography that I found that my first point-and-shoot digital camera - the 2005 Canon Powershot G7 - is mine. I adore this freaking thing and shoot all my portraits with it. You can get them usually for $50 on eBay, the flash is powerful, and it has a fantastic zoom. There’s also a really nice video feature that can handle low light and somehow translates colors in a way that feels “straight from the tube” - I’ve already shot a short film on it and want to make more videos with it soon.

full auto, 72 shots per roll, incredibly well built, easily available for $100-150. tons of variants with different combos of features. the only downside to me is they are mostly scale focus which I hate but you might not! if you wanna spend about twice that, the PEN FT is less automatic but it's a full SLR so you can focus for real. i have a PEN EES-2 that the camera shop broke when i took it in for a repair, i only got to shoot one roll with it but it was absolutely the most fun roll of film ive ever shot

Everything in your life does not have to be subscription based, and subscription does not equate a service being good. If I’m paying $24.99 a month to watch Netflix in 4K UHD, I should expect to see what I pay for, not subpar playback latency, low bitrate streams, many app crashes, and overall looking terrible on anything that isn’t a 4K display. Remember when you could buy things and own them, like, forever? There is a better world out there past Netflix, Hulu, Spotify and Amazon Prime.

You don’t have to tell everyone everything in/about your life, especially online, in today’s online yet frequently data-breached world. Like the great Christopher Wallace once said: Keep your family and business completely separated

I have a near-Biblical dislike of Allbirds shoes and every other Tim Cook Jeff Bezos Middle-aged Balding Pickleball coach ass shoe out there for convincing the public that these were in any way cool. No dude, you look like a loser with these. They look bland and lifeless, like they were concocted in the same boardroom that made the flat graphic design trend that Meta and Google love so much. Hell, even notorious ip-infringer Skechers makes better looking shoes than these. They don’t even feel good to wear. They have no soul or personality and yet some people swear by them. Who are these shoes for?
