But then I remember mormons didn't allow for black people to go to heaven until the 1970's and it's like okayyy 💀 I'm not a particularly religious person but every time I remember this fact, I laugh. I'm so sorry, it's just too ridiculous. Also how did that conversation go "oh, btw, now black people can go to heaven". Like what is that? omg. Imagine having to explain that to anyone with a straight face.

or that when the ancestory claimed in the book of mormon was proven wrong with modern technology they changed their own holy scripture to adapt to the discovery which is a BIT weird to alter a document you believe to be heaven sent, also not to mention even tho black people are allowed in the church its still heavily looked down upon in most mormon communities to marry interracially, not to mention that the book of mormon teaches that black people are only black due to a curse place upon them by god not to mention like a million other things about the mormon church

just a reminder that Christianity is a white supremacist cult, and that your sincerely held beliefs are actually a mental illness caused by generational abuse. The church has never had the moral high ground as they pillaged their way through history, and are currently functioning as a real estate hoarding tax shelter that protects pedophiles 💜

not religious, but tbh reading the Bible or any religious scripture blows me away with how beautiful and significant everything manages to sound. my family is catholic, and we had to go to prayer for a family member's death today. did I do any of the prayers? no.. do all of them probably think I'm a weird queer emo who is going to hell? yes but some of the verses were unironically so TOUGH. made me feel like i should be sitting by a stained glass windows, writing an epic of love and tribulation with a big feather quill.

I grew up Catholic, def not practicing anymore which is another story for another day.… Anyway, I still like to use the “what would Jesus do?“ as a basic guiding principle. Supposedly Jesus was this unconditionally all-loving, forgiving, supportive dude who worked with sinners/people who needed help and could perform cool miracles. He was kind and accepting, not judging others or smiting them to hell. He rolled with everybody. When I was 15, I had a dream that Jesus invited me to par-take in some cannabis with a group of folks and he was just super chill, nice, and welcoming. Random, but that’s how I like to imagine him. It makes me sad how most organized Christianity religions use fear instead of love and kindness to spread their message. Also, side note, anyone else think it’s weird that they made white Jesus so good looking? Are we supposed to be attracted to him as a tactic to enroll?
