Yesterday I went to visit my dad's grave with my mum. I don't mean that as a depressing preface, it was a good day! Funny too, surprisingly. I was driving and we had to take another route as there were unexpected road workings *happening*. Ended up getting lost for a bit, but it somehow wasn't stressful. It was *nice*? I don't know, just talking with mum in the car for a long time like that felt cathartic. At first she was actually anxious, but we started talking about how we were in fact honouring dad's memory by *getting lost*, so next up was swearing like a sailor if she was game for it (she wasn't, but that made her laugh).
When we finally got to dad's grave, I left a sunflower and mum left a rose. There was a dried bird pellet on the day of the date he died. I don't really have a poetic reflection on that *(something something the cyclicity of nature)* just that it made me *stop* for a moment. I asked mum if she had a wipe, she handed me a tissue with her lipstick stains on it. I spat on it, and wiped the pellet away. I reckon dad also would've appreciated that over throwing a tizzy about finding a proper wipe y'know. Just get it done without a fuss.
I noticed two new freshly buried graves with their plots marked near dad's, no plaque or headstone yet, we spared some thoughts for 'em. There was one new plaque near dad's grave, took note of that person's name and the engravings that had been left for them from people who loved them, it made me smile.
Today I slept in, did some shopping and life admin, came home, wrote some stuff, and played video games.

@SOFTSHELLED thank you soooo so much for sharing this beautiful day with your mom! being able to spend time with her like that (and genuinely enjoy) it is such a blessing, and honoring your father together too! so beautiful. i was definitely tearing up while reading this :) today I went grocery shopping and ran into a few friends I haven't seen since my freshman year of uni (I'm a third year now) so that was a nice surprise. i bought some pork steam buns at h-mart and came home to study for my exam.
(un)fortunately, I ended up yapping with my roommates for an hour and now I'm watching a hockey sports movie called "invincible" for the first time. idk why but I loooove sports movies!!
