I was volunteering at a film festival and talking with another older guy that was also volunteering and found out he went to the same college and lived in the same dorm as me 40 years before. What are the odds. People that volunteer a ton love to talk and it usually ends up being about something interesting

I work the front desk of a hotel, and I’ve met some really interesting people by taking our conversations ~just~ beyond the realm of customer service pleasantries. literary critics, accomplished visual artists, astrophysicists working on the next space telescope, and a whole conference of very friendly Kantians. it’s a big world, with lots of interesting people in it!

I didn’t like how big all toiletry bags were so I made one. It’s just big enough to hold my glasses, contacts, toothbrush, and a few other things. I also made a catchall for my pocket things out of the same canvas.

Overcomplicated actually. I needed a pencil cup for my desk, so I made one out of Trader Joe’s turkey chili can. I left it at that for a while, then decided to make a base out of plywood and bolt the can to it through the bottom, providing slightly more stability and preventing my pencils from spilling all over my desk.
