QUITTING NICOTINE
Deciding to cut my lingering tethers to this parasite for good. 11 days in and my chronically sick body is healing :,) Not easy but trying to stop seeing this as a sacrifice but as freedom & an offering to my health!

I've lost much of my personal time and thus have spent 5 years trying to get through Franzen's "Freedom." Halfway in, and it's an incredible exposition on the failure of our Western concept of freedom leading to happiness. As Buddhists would claim, true freedom comes from direction and intention which is the opposite of naked freedom.

PERSEPHONE + EROS & PSYCHE
I was assigned the Goddess of the underworld for a middle school project and have loved her ever since. She embodies the duality of the Divine Feminine: darkness and light, as well as the cycle of death and rebirth that occurs with the changing seasons. Pomegranates are also my favorite fruit (& the reason she’s allowed to return to earth in the springtime) (Also,, they connect to the High Priestess tarot card of balancing the natural and spiritual worlds). Eros is the god of erotic desire and Psyche means human soul. I love that Psyche learns she should’ve trusted her pure love and resisted the pressures of surface-level desires. But he forgives her <3 Just an epic love story that transcends mortality.
