I think this has to be my answer since I've put in 1,400 hours since summer 2021. But my real favorite is Kingdom Hearts 2, and I really really wanna go back and beat Baldur's Gate 3! But Final Fantasy XIV is a whole other beast. Always come back to it.

never been one for mmos tbh i just never have fun groups to play with but i love the ff games and kh2 is also one of my favorite gmeas :33

@ODETTE you can play mostly solo, i do a lot of raiding so i'm always paired with new people who are fun to chat with but i'm not in a group i play with regularly. i also just don't think i'm very similar to wide swaths of the playerbase which is a reason i just haven't had the urge to find a regular group to play with

@BIGBEAUT Each Final Fantasy game is an independent story, like an anthology. You can just play any of them and they're entirely unrelated to each other. FFXIV, however, is an online game that's been around for 14 years with a constantly updating story. So it does feel like a show with 20 seasons. So I can't really say I recommend starting it unless you're semi-unemployed like I was at the time. And even then I do have a sort of love/hate relationship with it now. If you want to play a Final Fantasy for the first time, I recommend VII Remake, XVI, and VI (pixel remaster). A lot of people recommend X but I've never played it but the HD remaster is quite good apparently.

final fantasy xiv online

a rec for those looking for a long-term game investment. i have a very love/hate relationship with this game. getting the downsides out of the way: if you're not careful you can waste a lot of your free time, the community is cringe-inducing, there can be a grind, and the story has dry spots. i wouldn't have started this game if it didn't find me during unemployment, but what i've played is so fun and unique i still make time for it to this day. i have a lifelong on-again-off-again relationship with MMOs and the combat here is really engaging at higher levels. there are many second-life elements that add a lot of personalization to your experience. it's one of my favorite fantasy stories of all time (it is super story-focused, nearly every aspect of gameplay is tied to story, though not all side-stories are as S-tier as the main questline). i've put over 1000 hours into it over 3 years, compared to other similar games it doesn't demand all of your time to be a good player, you can maximize your experience with whatever level of effort you put into it. it took 2 years of playing through what the game has to offer to hit endgame. i've played it more than any other game in my life. the new expansion's early access starts in 2 days and i will be playing all weekend.

final fantasy xiii - jesus christ....... like jesus christ final fantasy xiv (any expansion but specifically heavensward, shadowbringers and endwalker) - since this is an mmorpg a lot of the music can be like decent area/cutscene music but nothing special because there is a need for a looooooot of music, but the highs......... are the highest. like, man. final fantasy xvi - full soundtrack isn't online but find the flames is greaaaaaat if you wanna feel Epic kingdom hearts 2 - oh my god.... ohhhhh my goddddddd..... add a couple of the themes from kingdom hearts 358/2 days as well doom eternal - great for weight lifting and getting pissed off sable - soundtrack by japanese breakfast

Final fantasy x

I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve played this game. their kissing cut scene was the peak of romance for me as a kid. Still a great game now and I’ve still ever completed all the side quests cause they’re really hard!
