I’m re-reading so many books recently. Ocean Vuong, Patti Smith, Hanya Yanagihara, and the likes. I think it is okay to re-read books because I have a new perspective each time, but I want to know a general opinion about this? Is it productive to re-read a book many times or should I cherish my initial opinion?

I think it's definitely productive to reread books, that being said I usually can't sit through a book I read anywhere near recently unless it's one of my favorites

I think there’s a lot of value in this. With each read you probably gain new insight into what the author was thinking and can probably apply new themes to your life as you change. You’re never going to be able to read all the books out there anyways, so maybe there’s merit in becoming intimately familiar with a few.

Sometimes I worry about becoming swallowed and bogged down by the mire of my past so I feel the need to be moving always forward - but I went on a hinge date with a guy last week who reminded me that you can read as many new books as you want but if you don’t take the time with some of them to really go in depth, to let them sink into you, you won’t really get a very full understanding of anything. I think that’s right.

I lost my moleskine notebook with almost three months of sketches and figure studies in them and sometimes I feel so sad that i’ll never see some of my drawings again, especially the watercolors… I hope whoever finds it cherishes it like I did.
