it's clinging on where i live still, as usual. i really do feel grateful for the snow. we haven't been getting that much over the past few years, which has got me reminiscing on when there would be literal 10 feet tall snow drifts in between the houses after a particularly harsh snowstorm. i miss the winters where i would go out and play in the snow forts with my sister. that is home to me, and i don't feel the need to rush it out of here.

Like winter, winter - when it got cold and the November rain turned to snow and it stayed that way. And then it snowed more and more and it created blankets of snow that would stack so high youd be forced to walk within the maze of snow banks. And being bundled up and flopping backwards in a satisfied exhaustion into that snow. All sound around you damped like you were under water. Bright grey skies above you and the warm burn of a pinch of ice melting on your cheek. Very serene memories - maybe only relatable to our family in the north. ….whoops late for work now!

every year I dread this season but wind up finding joy and feeling energized by embracing the snow and cold. A few years ago I visited Lake Placid NY, a town that revolves around winter sports (and still has these amazing relics standing from the 1980 Winter Olympics). skiing, ice skating, sledding, hiking in the snow, or layering up and going on walks help get through the shorter and darker days. It’s kind of amazing that rain turns into layers and layers of pure white, dampening sound and temporarily covering all the intricacies of the world. It’s so quiet out there. And when you come back inside you appreciate your warm lil corner of the world even more.

It’s incredible how many people genuinely think they are boring. There have been so many times I’ve spoken with people and they confess that they think that they haven’t done much with their life, or that they don’t have much interesting to talk about, but it’s almost never the case. From what I can tell, it’s often caused by a lack of knowing thyself. Or maybe a low self esteem? I’ve been through it too, and it is so so not true for anyone. You’ve done so much living. Why do you feel like your story is not worth telling? I know you’ve gone through some crazy shit once or twice. if you really haven’t, what’s stopping you from getting out there and creating stories to talk about? Start small! go to a coffee shop once a week. See if they have any clubs to join, and try that out! you’ll be making memories in NO TIME. If you have trouble finding meaningful/fun conversation, just remember that the effort must flow both ways. You are merely just working with what the other person is providing you, and if they aren’t giving you anything to work with, it’s not your fault. You aren’t boring, you are just around people who dont vibe with you. And that’s okay! Not every person is going to be your specific kind of person. Plus, if you aren’t having fun talking to them, why does it matter if they like you? the much cooler people who value your input are just around the corner. I promise. One day you’ll be able to shine your beautiful personality on someone who is equally as bright you are, you magnificent comet, you.
