idk why but whenever i need a moment i watch this video. i find music history fascinating and i love how the creator included pictures from the time period in it. it does depict racism and disasters and the less savory parts of history so if youre sensitive to that stuff i wouldn't watch. its a 20m watch and it ends in 2013 but i highly recommend giving it a watch

these are often entire worlds in themselves. there is tragedy, reflection, love/loss, and nostalgia for a bygone era but generally through a lens of conspicuous consumption. extremely beautiful and dumb at the same time. i love to listen to the song and put myself in the commenter’s emotional mindset at the time of posting. music can deliver in us a wave of emotion out of nowhere and this is truly one of the rawest expressions of that.

Y’know, like comfort media. The kind of thing you find yourself coming back to every year. Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe you’re sentimental, or maybe it’s just good for a laugh.
I came across this again the other night, after not seeing it for a few months. Was reminded that I’ve been watching it sporadically every year for half a decade now. The algorithm seems to send it to me a couple times a year and every time it does, I’m reminded of how much I love it.
Maybe it’s the atmosphere. the first 4 minutes of birds chirping. the greens and blues that radiate off the screen. Maybe it’s just the music. But everytime, without failure, it makes me hopeful. Optimistic about everything still coming.
