It's hard to overstate the obsession I had with this band's debut LP and the despair I felt after their breakup because I missed my chance to catch them in Cambridge, MA in 2011. Now all of a sudden, here they are 14 years later with a pretty great song and potentially more on the way. So much has happened in that time, and it's almost disorienting to revisit them in a completely new context. It's inspiring to see a beautiful thing come back when it seemed to be gone forever.

Holy shit, WU LYF is back and still good and I'm so excited for a new album! "Go Tell Fire to the Mountain" was probably my favorite album when I found it in 2015, but by then, they had already broken up, so hopefully this is a return to form! It sure like it sounds like one! Bonus Rec: "Go Tell Fire to the Mountain" by WU LYF (wait for the closer, "Heavy Pop") https://wulyf.bandcamp.com/album/go-tell-fire-to-the-mountain

This band only made one album and it’s so very good. It’s that indie rock from the early 2000s but it’s post rock but the vocals are shredded and it’s something different. And the drummer can’t sit still but he shouldn’t and it’s really good. Just listen to it!

the opener to their stunning & expansive debut (& only) album . it’s like screamo shoegaze for cathedrals . you can barely ever make out what he’s singing but it doesn’t matter because you can Feel It & the music sounds huge . the whole album would fit the vibe imo but this song is especially perfect because you can scream along with him singing I LOVE YOU FOREVER (& ever & ever & ever) .. & what’s better than that 💞

Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ☺️ Liner Notes: This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
