just deleting ig off my home screen has brought it down so so so much. sorry i keep talking about it i just feel very proud of myself for kicking that godawful habit of the habitual doomscroll. ill re rec this in a week with what my screen time is next sunday to see if i can whittle it down even further. but holy fuck down 9 hours in a week is insane. i believe in you guys too mwah mwah

It’s an app that you can use to block certain apps on your phone that has helped me greatly decrease my social media time without quitting cold turkey (though I’m trying to do that too, recently). I have it set so that I can only open instagram 7 times a day in 5 minute increments. I spend much less time doomscrolling but can still look at things my friends have sent me, etc.

reels are like... the mcdonalds of media except worse because mcdonalds is tasty. rarely do i ever get a reel that i'm like ohoho!!! thank god i came across this!!! i've largely split from using ig at all because of how easy it is to lose yourself in reels + how shitty i feel after. fuck short form portrait doomscrolling all my homies hate short form portrait doomscrolling

idk why. i didnt even see it until i was an adult watching the movie with summer camp kids. it’s so good and they all hate it so when i have a rough day and they’re being bad i make the after school kids watch it. he’s just so majestic idk guys

i guess you don't HAVE to use a rec as a rec, but maybe have a third option other than rec and ask. maybe just call it thoughts? for when you have a thought or a feeling that you want to share but it isn't a recommendation.
maybe having an anti-rec option under recs, too! like a drop down when you do choose to make a rec, you can choose to anti-rec. make sense??
lastly, having changing your email/password built into the settings. i ran into this the other day when i put my email in wrong and had to get ahold of you guys!!
