I seldom cry at movies. I never cry in public at movies. But Aftersun had me crying on a full plane of strangers for multiple hours. it’s almost been a week since I’ve seen it and I have thought about it everyday. It’s an extremely quiet film with an incredible way of having a profound impact. The movie is about a trip that a father and daughter make and the daughter is looking back on it years later. It has various topics like father/daughter dynamics, mental health, coming of age, but what I found the most intriguing part was the take on quite masculinity. Most films I have seen that explore the topic of masculinity are in the realm of toxicity or very abrasive and aggressive forms. This movie depicted the type of masculinity I see in my life with my male family and friends and it was heartbreaking but also beautiful. I can’t recommend it enough. It changed how I view people in my life and also myself. It inspired me to open up conversations with my father. And if you don’t have a father, I recommend it as well.

definitely a tear-jerker but visually one of the most beautiful films i've ever seen. the final club scene when 'under pressure' by bowie and queen is playing is engrained into my mind forever. it changed my perspective on life and had me bawling by the end credits. a film where silence is beautiful and heartbreaking. paul mescal also did such an incredible job in this.

It’s a period of sudden painful goodbyes for me right now and a period of unexpected hello-agains, and I’ve discovered so many new ways to cry in the past couple of weeks, different shades and timbres and tempos of tears. I thought that this movie would destroy me and that I would have mascara and eyeliner running down my face, but it was actually too beautiful and uplifting for me to do that. It really resonated with me and where I am in life right now in some key ways and I’m happy that I went to see it in the theater today. Gorgeous gorgeous story of resilience and joy in the face of adversity and turmoil.

and wonder why the hell they asked you to hang out? Like I just hung out with someone and they looked at their phone half the time and then asked me the most minimal stuff ever and then after 45 mins said “I have to go!” Like, damn girl you beat me to it

isn't it crazy how when you get a drink in this cup it tastes 100% better than any other type of drinking vessel? You can have the same diet coke or whatever but if it comes in this cup it's going to be much more crisper and tasty. Shout out the Cambro 2000P156 much love
