about to make guacamole with my dad.
we visited his dad today.
instead of learning how to make chip dips, his dad taught him how to throw a ball.
it was weird; hearing my dad tell the lady at the counter, “i’m looking for my dad’s room.”
sometimes i forget he was a kid once, too.
my grandfather ended the visit by holding my dad’s hand and saying, “you wouldn’t believe how much i love you!”
both of them were trying to be strong, but i saw their eyes gloss over.
i made the guac, by the way. my dad was very patient with me & my questions about avocados.
i think its because he misses when his dad could be patient with him.
instead he’s a patient at the hospital
who can very well believe how much he loves his son.
i don’t know. just food for thought.

my dad usually embarrasses me by trying to tell the waitress jokes and he’ll spend the entire time complaining about the food. (“this coffee tastes like ass” or “what are these? pigeon eggs??”) BUT it‘ll make him happy and my dad often has very good gossip. Overall it’s a formative experience.

reels are like... the mcdonalds of media except worse because mcdonalds is tasty. rarely do i ever get a reel that i'm like ohoho!!! thank god i came across this!!! i've largely split from using ig at all because of how easy it is to lose yourself in reels + how shitty i feel after. fuck short form portrait doomscrolling all my homies hate short form portrait doomscrolling

i guess you don't HAVE to use a rec as a rec, but maybe have a third option other than rec and ask. maybe just call it thoughts? for when you have a thought or a feeling that you want to share but it isn't a recommendation.
maybe having an anti-rec option under recs, too! like a drop down when you do choose to make a rec, you can choose to anti-rec. make sense??
lastly, having changing your email/password built into the settings. i ran into this the other day when i put my email in wrong and had to get ahold of you guys!!
