I've been making my own at home a lot lately, but I wanna level up my chai game - I feel like my recipe is missing something. Anyone got any ideas on how to make it better?

i recommend soul chai!! they’re so bomb and if you don’t have time to meticulously craft your own chai (it’s a labor of love) it’s a time saver in the AM!

so many people have already said grated ginger but I'm here to second that because it's that good, my mom also used to add cardamom and a little bit of fresh lemon grass

Chai simply means tea btw. Look up chai masala recipes from Desi influencers on TikTok or research lateral to that for smth authentic, I’d think.

I would suggest to experiment with different spices. A bit of ginger (not too much in this season), cinnamon, black peppers, cardamom etc. chai is different in different homes so find your taste and when you recieve some guests, offer them the chai that they can only get at your home. In India, we sometimes visit people just to drink their chai and have fun with them so yeah

...can't get a decently strong version in Taiwan, but when I'm home it's always, always chai. My favourite version uses fresh ginger, a ton of spices and milk and tea boiled overnight (the one done over woodfire is elite).

go to your local farmers market or wherever you can get loose leaf tea and get black tea, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, star anise, black pepper, cloves, bishops weed (or fennel bc it’s more common) and some ginger and throw into a pot with some water and add your milk of choice to taste. strain then serve it with some biscuits or leave it in the fridge for on the go iced chai. it’s like the best hug you can give to yourself

im becoming a much bigger tea drinker than in the past. ive always loved chai but the more herbal and earthy flavors are more enticing these days, plus I feel much better than coffee, but idk if that's just placebo lmao lemon ginger and peppermint have been favs in the morning :))

you can get them brand new or find them in mostly perfect condition second hand on sites like ebay, and I love them so so much!!! they work like a ring-binder crossed with a wallet, and you can get all kinds of inserts for them. my favourite thing about them is how customisable they are; no two filofaxes are the same!

it's not a very niche thing to do but one of my favourite genres of snack is cheese + random food. I'm particularly fond of cheese and apple or cheese and a digestive biscuit, but the possible combinations are endless! it's always fun to get experimenting and try out new mixes, I'd really recommend giving it a go :)
