Okay crazy combo first time those two have been in the same sentence together. I love Travvy’s music so hard (basic) but it’s missing the full adoration other artists get. I can take a break from Travis or don’t need to listen every day, with my number one (Drake 🥰🥰) that just isn’t the case. Malick gets a more refined answer. I really do love Malick’s general style, I think it harkens to Tarkovsky in a lot of ways and I really love it, his films seem to represent the ordinary and yet somehow make the viewer realize that the ordinary is what’s important. This is what life is all about, the trees, the sky, relationships, etc. I also love his use of natural light and wide lenses. My only gripes with Malick are I feel his movies drag on too long sometimes, and can use music as a way to shove the theme down your throat. Tree of life has a perfect film in there if you cut it, but I think he gets grandiose with his music choices and expands his frame too far when looking at space, keep it to the Texas scenes!

In my original *anonymous* Perfectly Imperfect, I wrote about my love for the Terence Davies film The Long Day Closes. Years later, I have no mask and Terence has passed away only a few weeks ago, but I am doubling down on the sentiment because there is no filmmaker whose work I feel closer to than his. Throughout his films, there is a palpable reverence for something greater – God, your teacher, “the pictures”, your mother. I watch Terence Davies’ work with that same sense of awe.“Some of those stars are dead. The light from them started out when Jesus was alive. How do you know? Our teacher said.”-Bud, “The Long Day Closes”

I think mountain lions are so cool, just thinking about them right now. If I could have a mountain lion as a companion I so would. They are beautiful creatures, iconic symbols of the American west, which I also love. If I ever saw one in the wild I would be so scared but later I’d think it was cool.
