It may not be the healthiest and it may be a trauma response, but I’m sorry—I am not investing in anybody who doesn’t reciprocate. I can and will take my talent elsewhere. There are millions of other people and one of them is sure to actually think of me without constant prompting.
i do a lot of theatre and my choreographer always labels the moves as something like “take a shit!“ or “fart and smear it around!” she’s the best and we all remember the choreo.
the more absurd it is the more likely you are to remember it so have some fun
the department store music playing overhead - extra points if its jazz, warm interactions with other shoppers, befriending the cashiers, finding those treasures you never would have found online, going out for coffee after your shop, feeling so pleased you can support these local businesses because they make your day that much better
