not a fashion expert but i do spend a lot of time scrolling through depop and buying new clothes ! the best advice i can give is that a shirt with a little bit of spice can never go wrong, whether that’s a unique colour, an interesting pattern or a nice material. this shirt i bought is my go-to formalwear and i usually combo it with a pair of tux trousers or even some corduroys if im feeling experimental. shoe wise cant go wrong with a pair of browns (I can typically get away with wearing some brown docs for a formal event but you do whats appropriate). jacket not needed but certainly an option. hope the search goes well!

i agree with the others. you can never go wrong with a suit/blazer + shirt combo. and it doesn't have to be boring, you can play with colors, textures, or patterns.  and add some accessories to make it more interesting. jewelry, belt, pin, anything that suits your vibe. i think a big belt worn over the jacket is a cool styling choice. also a nice pair of dress shoes or ankle boots with unique details can elevate your look (see the guy in the black suit, his outfit is simple and classic, but that pair of boots add some flair to his look–subtle but cool)

obviously this isn’t revolutionary but if you’re wanting a more formal look this is an easy win . i’m partial to a tie with a bit of texture vs a flat weave , a grenadine or a silk knit is great for this , it adds some depth & interest to the outfit without being too loud . if you are more of a pattern person i think a navy & burgundy/wine combo could be nice , there’s one here in a flat silk weave & here’s a beautiful navy & brown stripe i’d pair any of these ties with a navy sock to bring it together . also take a look at the stores & see if anything else catches your eye & i’d especially recommend wearing the shirt & jacket one day & just going to try some things on wherever they have ties near you

Oversized dress shirt, preferably thin linen, preferably white - put it back to front and button one button halfway up your back (could strategically hide bra strap) so you have a mainly open back (hot) If the front is too loose / gives a little bit too much straightjacket vibes grab a couple safety pins and drape the fabric how you want, then pin on the inside of the shirt - this can be a bit finicky, but overall worth it for the end effect Goes with anything, but personally I think it is perfect answer to jeans and a nice top - I've been wearing this every time I go out for drinks lately and I've been stopped by a woman on the street walking past me in a smoking area, and a waiter at a restaurant - both said they'd never seen anything like it before - also so cool for the summertime! For some reason this is the only picture I have where you literally cannot see the shirt but I recommend this STRONGLY

you can be a vibe if you want to! wear those oversized jeans you don’t know if you suit! light your cigs with a box of matches! play chess in a field with your friend! every time you do something like that and you don’t give a fuck, you get a little bit closer to having the best vibe out there

like cooking, it’s about seeing those enjoy what you play them than the process itself!

so uhhhh I’m the one in the back. my brother is 2 years older and he decided to sneak into my room and cover my face in sudocrem. my parents walked in, he started crying, I started crying and they immediately thought “we have to capture this”
