First time doing this so I’ll report back if she responds. She’s doing a promo run so I doubt it. Here’s the thinking though: she’s getting tons of DMs from worshippers and thirsty collaboration requests (i assume). “____ you’re so hot I’d go to war for you” “_____ let’s link you’re such a genius”. Not me. She’s already putting that over the top energy into the world with her art. Maybe she wants to chop it up about chin cramps, or how good the inside of a Sweet Frog smells for once. Last year we had a week where we only text each other in code. Morse code, hex, binary, and many others were used. There was also a week where we only spoke to each other in shakespearean style poetry. This is what true romance is.

She was in a band with someone who was in film class with me in high school. A couple years later, I saw her on Instagram.
She posted about the Trueanon coverage of the Ghislaine Maxwell trial and I dmed her to tell her members of the public could just go (I had attended prior).
We exchanged dms back and forth and met for pizza a couple months later. I hinted at romantic interest via genuine enthusiasm about seeing her every following weekend. She hinted at it by suggesting we watch “Beyond the Valley of the Dolls” together.
Moral of the story: your opening message must not just stand out, it must be truly bizarre.

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup).
Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love.
I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed.
It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
