i recommend getting booked by your cousin to play the county fair two hours north, hopping in a car with two friends to get your asses out there, cheering for the pig race, standing around and devouring a funnel cake w/ bavarian cream rapidly, playing shy shoegazey indie rock to fairgoers, getting on a carnival ride you immediately want to escape from
There's a neat kombucha bar / music venue in town, and it's one of my favorite places to see music. Pretty much exclusively indie/punk shows, but a friend asked us to play there, and we brought a very different vibe with our old time/bluegrass/folk stuff. Everyone was so nice, and it was fun to merge two sort of different worlds that share a DIY ethos
