some of my favorite movies ever were made by him in the 60s, absolute mood pieces. seen la notte (pictured) more times than I’d care to admit. the passenger with jack nicholson is also sublime.

Went thru an Ang Lee kick a few years back and found his early movies about taiwanese-American immigrant/blended families reconciling their 2 cultures soooo so heartwarming. Brokeback and The Ice Storm (!!!) two of the most memorable and stylistically sophisticated movies I’ve ever seen. Dude has major heart and a very sweet sense of humor and always picks the sexiest people for main roles. Antonioni…where do I start.. watch anything that has Monica vitti in it and Blow Up. if you’re not trying to pick apart how his surrealism maps onto Italian history and politics then just come for the sexy people , eerie music, and ridiculous cinematography

The best Antonioni. Nobody was doing 60s Italian black and white ennui like him.

I'm blown away by how natural and relevant they feel. Especially in his early work, (who's afraid of Virginia Woolf, carnal knowledge, the graduate) he explores the human condition through subtle intimacies and conversations that reveal incredible depths of his characters.

I don’t believe in ranking things- restaurants, albums, books, movies, athletes anything, top x lists whatever. I think it’s a waste of time honestly. Even with a completely objective criterion what’s the point. Would rather listen to and read people just talk about their favorite things and why they are special and meaningful to them- everyone has their own, interesting reasons. And this is a great place to do that!
