When I draw or paint something and I don't feel 100% happy with the end product, sometimes I like to use it in a collage or do a collage around it. It turns art I'm disappointed in into something I like looking at. It keeps me from getting disheartened and helps creative juices flow. I think the collaging aspect is especially useful because it less technical and you can be pretty abstract with composition. It's a lot of fun and I think everyone should try it!! Here's a picture of one I did today. My drawing came out at a little flat and lacking dimension. I turned it into a collage and I feel like my original vision started to show. I started creating a story for this character I made through the collage. If you like to do this or want to try it, show me ur collages ❤️ would love to see what other people come up with.

I'm not really good at any visual art forms, but I made a pretty big collage for my friend's birthday, and it was just fun following my instincts on what to put together, seeing where I could place an inside joke, and just telling a story in a way I usually wouldn't. Hours went by before I even realized how long I'd been working on it. I just listened to music, cut up magazines, rubbed glue into my hands, fucked around with a bunch of markers, and it was pretty chill. I'd recommend anyone who struggles with visual art to give it a try, you might surprise yourself, but you also might just have fun, which is worth it to me. It's making me consider learning how to do it digitally.

Every time I enter into some kind of emotional spiral (good or bad, lol!) I make one of these. Or when I want to organize my thoughts around a creative project, or just for ~funsies~ (🤮) I love collaging but I don’t always have the resources or energy to make a physical one and once you get the hang of it, this is a super easy way to do it!!

It feels therapeutic - creative but in a mindless flowy way. Recommend for anyone with a creative block or wanting to reconnect to your own artistic tastes. I did my first one as a prompt from The Artists Way, and now I use it as a way to do something with the old Literary Supplement papers my dad keeps giving me. It’s cool to see your tastes shift over time in what you choose to stick down. Here’s my latest:

Underrated film about love in the end times. Beautifully shot. Somehow manages to be wildly goofy while also being quite devastating. Suspenseful and charming with hints of slight meta-commentary, this is worth a watch for so many reasons if I were to list them I would write an essay. I won't say any more because I feel to best experience this movie, you should go in with minimal context as I did but if this recommendation piqued your interest at all, I would say give it a shot.
